BrainChip Holdings creates “game-changing” partnership with MagikEye

BrainChip Holdings (BRN) has teamed up with MagikEye for a total 3D vision solution.

MagikEye’s patent-protected technology is based on its Invertible Light system, which enables the “smallest, fastest & most power-efficient 3D depth sensing.”

BrainChip is a global technology company which is currently producing a neuromorphic processor, known as Akida. Akida is designed to provide a complete ultra-low-power edge artificial intelligence (AI) network processor for vision, audio and smart transducer applications.

Principal analyst for application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) and System On a Chip (SoC) at Semico Research Corporation, Richard Wawrzyniak, said the combined technologies is the perfect solution in end-point users.

“3D imaging is attracting great interest in the market today and the BrainChip architecture, which delivers a power-efficient, scalable solution that enables
increased functionality with minimal impact on system cost and the power budget is the right fit for this class of applications,” he said.

“It is not surprising their solution would be paired with the MagikEye’s Invertible Light technology for real-time object detection in all types of applications, where low power and high throughput are valued elements for success. Semico believes this technology partnership is a winning combination for the market,” he added.

Brinchip says Akida is perfectly suited to provide the necessary analytics for manufactures to implement a complete 3D vision system. With the ultra-low-power and the ability to process the 3D image from MagikEye sensor, the companies can access gesture recognition in smart home applications, such as gaming and other consumer products.

Additionally, both companies can target smart transportation and smart city applications. This includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles (AV), meaning the tech could be used to develop the next generation of intelligent transportation.

Under the agreement, the partnership is valid for one year but has the option to extended.

MagikEye founder and CEO, Takeo Miyazawa, believes this partnership is “game-changing.”

“By combining the strengths of BrainChip’s Neural Network capabilities with MagikEye’s Invertible Light, we are excited about the game-changing benefits that customers will experience, in terms of a total 3D vision solution for robotics, machine vision and many other new applications,” he said.

BrainChip CEO Louis DiNardo is also excited with this new partnership.

“The innovation brought to the market by their proprietary Invertible Light technology is impressive and this collaboration provides both companies an opportunity to address large and growing markets with outstanding technology to solve difficult real-world challenges,” he added.

This partnership will also open a new pathway for BrainChip to enter the Japanese market.

On the market this morning, BrainChip is up 12.5 per cent and is trading for 22.5 cents per share at 11:40 am.
