Enhancing Ocean Safety with Efficient AI-Powered Detection
Arquimea has deployed Akida with a Prophesee camera on a drone to detect distressed swimmers and surfers in the ocean helping lifeguards scale their services for large beach areas, opting for an event-based computing solution for its superior efficiency and consistently high-quality results.

Partnering for a Smarter, More Efficient Future:
Creating a Complete Event-based Solution
BrainChip has teamed up with Prophesee, an event-based vision sensing and AI company, to produce a complete event-based sense and compute solution.
This integration allows vision data to be processed directly by Akida without the need for conversion into traditional frame-based formats, as required by conventional computer vision algorithms.
By computing the naturally sparse data output from the camera efficiently, the system eliminates unnecessary padding, reducing latency for faster detection while minimizing computational demands and power consumption.

The Next Wave of Innovation
Event-based vision solutions are the next wave of innovation to address the challenges of combining vision cameras, as well as radar and lidar, with ever increasing complex algorithms.
The computer vision market has been working for decades to incrementally improve the detection and tracking needed for autonomous vehicles, drones and other mobile solutions with the intent to improve the detection and tracking necessary to avoid collisions and identify the best route to avoid obstacles in their path.
This solution increases performance while
reducing the current need for increased power
consumption and cost.
Updating conventional cameras and computer vision neural network algorithms, with event-based cameras and event-based processing, will provide faster detection and higher tracking accuracy with less memory and computation. Event-based vision cameras break out of the frames/sec limitations while reducing computational requirements and data storage requirements.
Using BrainChip’s Akida event-based computations is an ideal integration with event-based vision cameras for solutions requiring these capabilities in drones, autonomous material handling, and other robotic solutions.
